Group Project Progress

My group's presentation topic is on how to develop a plan to locate resources. Since I was absent during the first assignments of the groups and presentation topics, I was briefed on everything in the last class. During that meeting we discussed how we would break down our presentation between the six of us and which component of our topic each of us would cover. I chose to discuss information seeking strategies since I've done a lot of research as psycholgoy major. I already have a general sense of how to go about finding information. At the moment I am sending one of my group members everything I have gathered in response to my portion of the assignment. I am hoping our meeting in class today will be a smooth ride. :)

Community Project

I've always been interested in the Social Justice League on campus but was too lazy to attend meetings, or perhaps just not motivated enough. I love their events so I decided to attend their "Born into Brothels" movie night. I've seen this documentary before, but it was really good, and I thought it was a good opportunity to make some observations. Just before the film began, Brian, one of the members, briefed us on a few stats and facts on sex-trafficking and slavery in the U.S. I couldn't stay to finish the film but was amazed at how many people showed up. I couldn't tell if it was something people were getting extra-credit for or if they were there out of genuine interest. At a movie-type of event, it was clearly really hard to make observations in the dark, and I wasn't able to stay for the entire film. I decided I would awkwardly show up as a random person to their meeting tomorrow after this class and hopefully get a better feel for their organization.
